A scan sheet that keeps up with your thumb
The result sheet after a scan was rebuilt to match the card page, and the scanner's heaviest work was found running on the same thread as the screen. It has been moved off it, so the sheet, the camera view and the pages under them respond the way they should.
Scanner
- The result sheet now reads like the card page: set pill, Raw/Graded, the printings as chips, then the price and a 3-month chart with the dashed opening-price line.
- Graded is a real lens now: grade pills, the graded price and chart, the graded read, that grade's recent sales and the pop report. Raw lists recent eBay sales under the read.
- The market read is written when you tap it, not before you asked.
- Scanned this card before? A tag under the chart shows what it was worth the first time and how far it has moved since your last scan.
- Tap the card's art or title to open its page; Back returns to the scan.
- Your latest scan sits bottom-left like the Camera app's last shot. Tap it for a grid of everything scanned this session. A tap on the viewfinder takes the shot.
- Cards without enough market to write about no longer show a read button that leads nowhere.
Speed
- The scanner's card detection was running on the screen's own thread — every sheet and page on top of the camera paid for it. Fixed; the sheet after a scan tracks your finger again.
- The shimmering read button, the price charts, the space hero, the card page's wave backdrop and the loading spinner are drawn by the graphics system directly instead of being redrawn by the app thirty times a second.
- Home, Discover, the set list and the card page stop rebuilding the whole screen while you scrub, type or scroll.

A cooler scanner, and reports from the frames it used to lose
The camera now works at a lower resolution while it is only looking for a card and switches to full resolution the moment one is in view, so long sessions run cooler without changing what a scan reads. Cards that would not lock under glare now tell you what to do, and the card page scrolls smoothly again.
Scanner
- Less heat: while the viewfinder is searching, the camera runs at a lower resolution and steps up to full resolution as soon as a card appears. Every scan still reads from the full-resolution frame.
- Under thermal pressure the camera also drops to 24 frames per second instead of letting the phone throttle everything.
- A shiny card that will not lock under a lamp now gets "tilt away from the light" instead of a message about not looking like a card.
- The scanner keeps a small crop of what it saw around each scan (only if you have opted into image retention) to train the next generation of card detection.
Card page
- A new artist spotlight below the card's read: who drew it, their cards and sets, and a shelf of their work.
- Graded sections show a placeholder at their real height while prices load, so the page no longer jumps.
- Scrolling over the 3D card and the posters holds a smooth frame rate again.
Fixes
- A brief keychain hiccup can no longer make a signed-in account look signed out, which could leave the Vault empty until a relaunch.
- The back chip on the card page is easier to hit; the keyboard can be dismissed on every sign-up and add-friend step.
- Build 52 · 1.0August 30, 2026
Search understands how collectors actually type
Type a promo number, a nickname for a rarity, or a slightly misspelled term, and search now surfaces the exact card instead of a pile of name matches. And when what you typed matches nothing at all, search shows the closest results with an honest label saying what it substituted — never a blank page.
Search
- Promo-style numbers work: "mewtwo dp28" or "charizard swsh260" jumps straight to that exact card.
- More ways to say things: "lvl x" now reads as LV.X, alongside the dozens of era, set, and rarity nicknames added this week.
- Typos in hobby terms self-correct — "shadowles", "golld star", "vmxa" all still filter correctly. Pokémon names are never auto-corrected.
- No more dead ends: a number or term that matches nothing shows the closest cards under a "No exact match — showing close results" note instead of an empty page.
- Card rows show the printed number as a chip — 004/102 style, or the bare promo number when the card never had a denominator.
Flavor notes
- The AI note library grew to 85 entries — graders, sealed products, rarity tiers, promo lore, error cards, Japanese exclusives, and the grail stories (Pikachu Illustrator, trophy cards).
- Every note is written to feel like discovering a corner of the hobby: what the thing is, then the history that explains why the market cares.
- Notes named after real sets (Legendary Collection, Southern Islands, Base Set 2) now appear alongside the set result instead of hiding behind it.
Browse
- The sets rail's arrow button is now a labeled "See all" pill.

The scanner starts recognizing the moment you aim
One build of fixes for the thing you point at cards. The scanner shows its first guess on the first aimed frame instead of waiting until it's certain, a matching bug that quietly hurt accuracy all month is fixed on both the app and the catalog side, and the stall that could leave the scanner needing an app restart is gone at the root.
Scanning
- The camera opens near-instantly and a live 'maybe …?' guess appears on the first aimed frame, refining as you hold — no more silent seconds while the scanner makes up its mind.
- Cards the bracket can't manage — sleeved, in binders, behind glare — are recognized anyway: the aiming frame itself is now a fallback, and the manual capture button offers itself in about a second instead of four.
- A card the scanner couldn't read, or a read stuck at 'sharpening', could previously leave the scanner dead until you force-quit the app. That failure is fixed at its root, not patched around.
- Scanning the same card twice still lands exactly one copy — the duplicate guards were deliberately left untouched by the speed work.
Matching accuracy
- The card-recognition model and the card index it searches had drifted out of step since mid-August, which made wrong-card picks more common. The entire 21,000-card catalog has been rebuilt to match the model, and about 800 newer cards are recognizable for the first time.
- Match confidence is calibrated to the rebuilt catalog, so a confident answer means what it says again.
Cardboard Capital Pro
- Going Pro is now a real App Store subscription. Your purchase is confirmed with our server before anything unlocks, so Pro status is the same on every device you sign into.
- Build 50 · 1.0August 28, 2026
See what raw cards actually sold for, not just what they're listed at
The Raw tab on a card page has always shown a price without showing you where it came from. Now it shows the actual eBay sales underneath it — the same list the Graded tab has had all along.
Card pages
- The Raw tab now lists recent completed eBay sales: what each copy sold for, when, and the seller's listing title, with a tap through to the listing itself. Before this, real sale prices were only visible on the Graded side.
- Each raw sale is tagged with the condition the seller stated — NM, LP, MP and so on — or simply 'Raw' when the listing didn't say clearly. No guessing: if the title didn't state a condition, we don't invent one.
- The list follows the printing you're looking at, so 1st Edition and Unlimited sales never get mixed together.
Sealed
- The Sealed row in search results now has a 'See all' that opens the full sealed catalogue, grouped by product type. It used to be a dead end.
Getting started
- The first-run walkthrough is now one continuous sequence instead of a series of separate screens — the card you're handed carries through the whole thing, and the reveal flows into the pricing pages on its own instead of waiting for a tap.
- The prices it shows you are real market data for that card, including its recent graded sales, rather than stand-in numbers.
- Build 49 · 1.0August 27, 2026
The scan result opens instantly, and cards finally show their connections
A release spent entirely on speed, with every fix found by measuring the app while it ran rather than guessing. The biggest one: scanning a card used to freeze for up to three seconds as the result slid up. It doesn't any more.
Scanning
- The result sheet appears immediately after a scan instead of stalling for up to three seconds — the little price chart was quietly drawing years of data it never showed, and the written insight was re-laying-out the whole paragraph on every word it typed.
Card pages
- The section that links a card to its relatives — every Umbreon through the years, more by the same illustrator, the rest of its set — now actually loads. It had been silently timing out on every card you opened, so most of you have never seen it.
- Opening a card no longer waits twelve seconds on a request that was never going to answer.
Home and lists
- Home holds a steady frame rate, including while you drag your finger across the value chart to read a specific day.
- The 'See all' pages for your holdings and watchlist open right away with placeholder rows, then fill in — instead of hanging while they load everything at once.
- Those lists got a visual pass too: bigger card art, the card number moved under the name to give the row room, and colour that now runs the full width of the row.
Discover
- The 'Latest set' poster at the top of the tab is no longer blank — it shows the set's most valuable card, its price, and the cards themselves again.
- The feed stops hitching mid-scroll. It was quietly asking the server for the same things two and four times over, and pulling far more data than any of it displayed.
- The latest-set banner and the sealed rail load from much lighter requests, so they appear sooner.
Everywhere
- The bottom tab bar marks where you are with a frosted pill that slides between tabs, with a tight bounce as it lands.
- Build 48 · 1.0August 27, 2026
A smoother first run, and a Discover tab that reads better
The welcome flow's scan demo now matches the real scanner exactly, so the card you catch lands where you were aiming. Home and Discover scroll noticeably smoother, search is always within reach, and the market rows finally explain themselves one card at a time.
Getting started
- The scan demo in the welcome flow now uses the real scanner's frame, and the card you receive appears exactly where it sat in that frame — no jump between the demo and the payoff.
- The back button can no longer strand you on the demo step.
- There's one way in now: the welcome screen is the door for new and returning collectors alike, with 'I Have an Account' for signing back in.
Discover
- The search bar stays pinned at the top of the tab instead of scrolling away, and both the field and its text are darker and easier to read.
- The button beside your avatar on Home is now search — one tap and you're typing, with no detour through the feed.
- Unusual moves got a rework: the percentage sits in a pill next to the card's name, the explanation gets two full lines instead of trailing off, and the card art is bigger.
- Every unusual move now explains itself in its own words — whether the week broke a quiet stretch, piled onto a months-long run, or reversed one. They used to all read the same.
- Card names and prices across the browsing rails are bolder and easier to scan.
Performance
- Home and Discover hold a steady frame rate while scrolling, including when card artwork is animating behind the content.

The login fix, for real this time
If the app ever stranded you on a username screen that wouldn't accept anything — that's fixed. You'll see the normal email sign-in instead, and you're in after the code. Usernames are handled automatically and can be changed in settings.
Signing in
- Fixed the dead-end where the app demanded a username but accepted none. It happened when a login session quietly expired — the app now notices and takes you to the normal email sign-in instead.
- The username screen no longer appears during login at all. If your account needs one, it's created automatically — rename it anytime in settings.
- If something does go wrong while claiming a username, the app says so instead of doing nothing.
- Build 46 · 1.0August 26, 2026
A faster, steadier scanner — and a smoother app
The scanner now looks only inside its frame and no longer mistakes a card's artwork for the card itself. The whole app renders smoother (up to 120Hz on newer iPhones), set pages got a poster-style redesign, and signing in with an older account no longer stops to ask for a username.
Scan
- The scanner only looks inside the on-screen frame now. Cards next to the one you're aiming at — in a binder or a glass case — can't steal the lock anymore. Tapping still moves the focus wherever you point.
- Cards with big rectangular art panels scan properly. The scanner sometimes locked onto the artwork inside a card and got stuck; it now recognizes the whole card immediately.
- The viewfinder wastes far less power while you line up a shot, which also keeps the phone cooler on long scanning sessions.
Everywhere
- The app now runs at up to 120 frames per second on iPhones with ProMotion displays — scrolling and the 3D card feel noticeably smoother.
- A performance pass removed hidden always-on animations that were quietly draining battery and dropping frames on Home, Discover and card pages.
- Navigation chips and titles use the system's native glass material.
Set pages
- Set pages open on a full-width poster header that stretches as you pull down.
- The price chart moved into its own panel — tap the price ticker to open it.
Signing in
- Older accounts that never picked a username sign straight in — one is set up automatically and can be changed anytime in settings.
- Build 45 · 1.0August 25, 2026
Scan a whole box without waiting
Batch scanning got the delay taken out of it — cards land as fast as you can turn them over, and the box you're scanning fills the web dashboard live. Home absorbed the Vault tab, and card pages got a proper look.
Scan
- Batch scanning no longer pauses between cards. The read stopped waiting on the network, capture uses the best frames it already has instead of waiting for new ones, and a bug that made every batch card fall through a four-second timeout is fixed.
- Scanning the same card twice by accident is caught properly. The old guard mistook glare for a new card and sometimes read two different cards as the same one.
- A hot phone keeps scanning at speed. Two separate problems made a warm phone drop to a crawl and start repeating cards — both fixed.
- Fix a bad read while the card is still in your hand: the batch button opens a review list where you can change the printing, rescan, or remove a card.
- Tap any card on the filmstrip to open it.
- Batches remember themselves — they auto-close after 30 minutes idle, and two boxes on the same day get distinct names.
Selling
- Watch a batch fill on the web dashboard while the phone is still scanning, instead of waiting for the whole box to upload at the end.
- The batch editor sorts, and puts your newest scan at the top.
Home
- The Vault tab is gone — your collection, stats and desk all live on Home now, in three tabs instead of four.
- A new account gets a greeting and today's market instead of an empty $0 portfolio.
- The portfolio chart is smoother on sparse sales data, and the big number follows your finger as you scrub it.
- Editing a card in your collection saves as you type — no more Save button.
Card pages
- Each card page is tinted to the card's own energy type — a Grass card sits on green, a Psychic card on violet.
- Tap the art for the full-screen 3D card, then page through the whole set with the arrows or by swiping — the cards turn on a carousel, against a starfield.
- The card art holds still while the page loads instead of flashing and shifting.
- Graded prices now ladder every grader — SGC, TAG and ACE alongside PSA, CGC and BGS — and grades that stopped trading are shown as dormant rather than hidden.
- Build 44 · 1.0August 16, 2026
Fix the first half-second
Scanning used to grind before it found the card. This build kills that wait, and stops refusing cards whose collector number is physically covered.
Scan
- Cards in display cases, sleeves and at an angle now lock about as fast as a bare card on a table — no more tilting and zooming to coax a lock. Measured on real card-show footage: lock rate 73% → 83%.
- When the next card in the row covers the collector number, the scanner identifies the card from its art and name and asks you to confirm, instead of refusing and blaming your thumb.
- Fewer confirmation sheets: obvious matches are simply accepted.
- Coaching stays quiet while you're walking rather than aiming at a card.
Behind the scenes
- Seller batch mode — scan into a batch, then finish the listings on the web dashboard.
- The Ask tab is parked while it's reworked; profile and settings got a polish pass.
- Build 42 · 1.0August 15, 2026
Act on the data
Build 40's telemetry came back within hours. Every change here is priced against it — no new UI, scanning just sticks more.
Scan
- Cards in toploaders and hard cases lock like bare cards instead of sitting behind a bracket that never closed.
- Scans that used to ask “which of these?” when the first option was obviously right now just accept it.
- Browsing a binder retargets cleanly pocket to pocket — a brief deliberate pause before switching cards keeps a glare flash from stealing the lock mid-aim.
- Build 41 · 1.0August 15, 2026
How many do I have
Every surface that can add a card now tells you what you already hold before you tap, and the vault counts properly.
Vault
- Add buttons read “Add 2nd copy” (or 3rd, 4th…) with a badge showing how many you already own — from the scanner, a card page, or the long-press quick sheet.
- One tile per card, never two of the same. Extra copies get a ×N badge on the art.
- Tapping a card you own in more than one printing lists your copies with printing, condition and the date you added each.
- The header reads “12 cards · 15 copies” when those differ, and the counts always agree with what's on screen.
Fixes
- Adding a card no longer mints duplicate lots on the write path.
- Build 40 · 1.0August 15, 2026
See the failure
Everything learned from a purple-lit card show, where the match rate halved, turned into detection and coaching. Nothing new to tap — the changes show up while you scan.
Scan
- Under strongly coloured light — LED strips, stage lighting, lit display cases — the scanner now warns that colours may not match instead of quietly failing.
- Glare coaching fires much sooner on slabs, toploaders and cards under glass, with a direction to tilt.
- When the scanner can see a card but can't latch onto it, it says so after about two seconds rather than leaving you guessing.
- Build 39 · 1.0August 15, 2026
One source of truth
The collection moved to a per-copy model end to end, so scanning a $10 card moves your total by exactly $10.
Vault & portfolio
- Every copy you own is tracked in its own right — no more totals dipping after an add or overwriting each other.
- Every “add to collection” button in the app — scanner, card detail, vault, onboarding — now updates the same live collection.
- Changes that fail to reach your account are kept and surfaced in Settings instead of being silently dropped.
- Build 38 · 1.0August 14, 2026
Onboarding V2
Getting started
- Rebuilt first-run flow with a real 3D card hook, a Pro step, and a back button on every screen.
- Build 37 · 1.5.0August 14, 2026
Sharper eyes
Scanner recognition model round two, plus the vault edit flow rebuilt.
Scan
- New recognition model: measurably better on blurry, glared and upside-down cards. Existing installs pick it up automatically.
- The scanner shows its working guess — “maybe X?” — while it gathers evidence, instead of a blank wait.
- The camera warms up behind the boot screen, so the first live frame is ready when you are.
- The card catalogue loads from the device first and refreshes in the background, so scanning starts without waiting on the network.
Vault
- Adding is always adding — tapping add never quietly removes a card.
- Shared paid-price keypad and a rebuilt copy detail sheet; edits re-value your total straight away.
Design
- Shared tap bounce and a design-system polish pass across the app.
- Build 35 · 1.0August 11, 2026
Vault & Home reliability
Fixes
- Fixed the Vault showing “0 cards” and Home resetting to empty: a failed network response could wipe the locally cached collection. Nothing was ever lost server-side, and cards repopulate on first launch after updating.
- Fixed portfolio totals sticking at the same number for days — the valuation was timing out silently. It now answers in under a second, and a stale total falls back to live on-device math.
- Portfolio history requests trimmed to the 90 days the chart actually draws, so the summary always lands in time.
- Build 33 · 1.0August 11, 2026
Stories, sales detail and a lighter look
Market data
- Best-offer eBay sales show what the buyer actually paid next to the seller's struck-through asking price, so negotiated discounts are visible at a glance.
- Card pages print the collector number exactly as it reads on the card; set pages show the master-set price and a printed denominator on checklist rows.
- Your portfolio re-values every time the app comes back to the foreground.
- AI market analysis is cached per card and refreshes automatically when a price moves more than 20%.
Discover & Search
- New Stories player: an onboarding story for new collectors and a recap grid on Home.
- Instagram-style search history rows — and history is actually recorded now.
- Lighter, filled search bar and content cards on Discover.
Design
- App-wide backgrounds lightened a half step for a brighter, airier feel.
- Build 1–32 · 1.0July 11, 2026
The beta
The first three months of TestFlight builds, before the log started: the five tabs took shape and the scanner learned to recognise cards on the device.
Highlights
- On-device card matching — the phone decides, so the market data lands the instant a card is recognised, with the server as backup.
- Recognition survives glare, angle, sleeves and upside-down cards; a stuck scan explains itself instead of showing a silent red box.
- Home, Discover, Scan, Ask and Vault built out — tracking and watchlists, personalised discovery, single and bulk scanning, chat over our market data, and your collection.
- Accounts, profile photos, condition tracking and the full graded report on the scan sheet.
